Disaster Planning
Emergency Preparedness / Bioterrorism
Across the nation, public health agencies are being included in all levels of emergency preparedness and planning, including helping residents make their own family disaster plan and emergency preparedness kits.
Often, dispensing information is more important than dispensing medicine. You can make your own family or business plan, and also help your kids learn about how they can help.
The country is recognizing the valuable experience public health departments can offer to emergency preparedness planning, and during relief efforts.
We can provide assistance to individuals, health care organizations and response agencies in dealing with numerous infectious diseases, including detection, diagnosis, containment and treatment. We have the ability to interview numerous people in order to follow disease trends, assess risk of exposure, discover the common source of illness, put effective prevention measures into place and dispense stockpiles of medications in public clinics.
We also are part of the CDC's nationwide Health Alert Network, a high-speed communication system that enables us to dispense urgent information to a network of hospitals, physicians, schools and emergency agencies.
