Immunizations
Immunizations For Adults While generally immunizations received in childhood protect throughout the lifespan, there are vaccines that are recommended for adults.Consider that:
- Some adults were never vaccinated as children
- Newer vaccines were not available when some adults were children
- Immunity can begin to fade over time
- As we age, we become more susceptible to serious disease caused by common infections (e.g., flu, pneumococcus)
Vaccines needed by all adults: Hepatitis B vaccines (adults at risk) Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine (for susceptible adults but NOT for pregnant women or people with impaired immune systems) Tetanus-Diphtheria vaccine (all adults, every 10 years) Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine (susceptible adults)
Vaccines for travelers:

Immunizations for Children Immunizations Save Lives!
Immunizations are needed to prevent many childhood diseases including pertussis (whooping cough), measles, mumps, tetanus and chicken pox.
Elbert County Public Health participates in the federal Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. Under this program we are able to provide immunizations to children from birth through 18 years of age for $10 per immunization, including meningococcal vaccine for college freshmen. No child will be denied immunizations because of inability to pay.
Immunizations are needed for children at birth, and at ages 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12-18 months, 4-6 years, 11-12 years and possibly at college entry.
Children need an appointment to receive vaccines. If more than one vaccine is required for a child, shots will be given simultaneously by 2 RNs to decrease the discomfort for the child. Please call 303-621-3144 to set up an appointment. Usually appointments can be given within 2-14 days of your call. Our new Simla office is up and running for immunizations on Mondays from 9am to 4pm.
Please bring your child’s shot records with you each time. We will happily fax your child’s shot record to the school at your request. We appreciate a few days notice for this.
